The leather

English bridle from Wickett & Craig. Hot-stuffed. Aged twelve months before I cut a strap from it. The hide tells me when it is ready by how it creases under the thumb.

How it is made

Hand-stitched at seven to the inch. Edges burnished with beeswax and friction — no slick chemical edge paint. Buckle is solid brass, pinned and hand-riveted. It will tarnish. That is the point.

What to expect

A belt that holds. Three holes either side of the home hole, because a belt is a rolling measurement of a life, and the waist moves. Yours will arrive stiff. Six weeks of wear will make it yours.
